Magnetic Water Treatment is Earth Friendly

Similar to the United State’s thirst for foreign oil, millions of Americans believe they can not get by without water softeners that consume massive amounts of salt. Although almost everyone agrees that we need to reduce our oil consumption, a growing number of Americans and many Cities are starting to get the salt monkey off their backs.

In the last few years, some Cities and Counties across the Nation have banned the use of Salt Water Softeners. This has caused the need for modern, non-polluting alternatives. Magnetic water treatment is one earth friendly way to fight hard water without harming the environment.

How to Clean Your Hot Water Tank with Magnetic Softeners

We say that magnetic water softeners are maintenance free, and for the most part that’s true. If your hot water tanks been under the influence of hard water for a year or longer, you should follow these easy steps to clean up the tank.

After the magnetic conditioners have been on your home for 3 to 4 weeks it’s time to see what’s going on the hot water tank. Take a short piece of garden hose around 4 feet in length and put it on the hose bib at the bottom of your hot water tank. Place the end of the hose in a bucket and open the drain valve long enough to fill the bucket about halfway. In most cases you will be left with water that is either cloudy or has small pieces of calcium in it, or both.

Follow this easy step every 3 to 4 weeks until the water is clear and has no pieces of calcium. At this point the limescale build up has been removed from the inside of your hot water tank, and you no longer have to do this. This process can take up to a year or more depending on the amount of build up in the hot water tank and the level of hardness in the water.

Hard Water = Less Soap Suds

When water passes through an intense and highly focused magnetic field, one of the positive changes to the water is a change in the surface tension. Generally speaking, the harder your water is the harder it becomes to create soap bubbles. The increase in the surface tension of the water caused by the magnetics can greatly reduce the amount of soaps, detergents, and shampoo you use. For most people, this is the very first indication they have after they install the units on their home.

The first time you shampoo your hair a notice a large increase in shampoo suds, your first thought will likely be that you use too much shampoo. The odds are, you used about the same amount you always do and yet the treated water created far more soap bubbles than before. The magnetic water softener will have you reducing the amount of soaps, laundry detergent, and shampoo for the first few weeks as you adjust to this improved condition.

Can the US Break It’s Addiction to Salt Water Softeners?

Much like our countries addiction to and dependence on foreign oil, many in the US feel I can’t live without salt water softeners. Just like we know deep down that we have to wean ourselves from gasoline, we also must wean ourselves from conditioning water in a manner that produces waste and pollutes the very groundwater we softened with salt.

Using magnetic forces in place of a salt water softener may seem like going from a Corvette to a Corvair, but it’s what the Earth’s wonderful water system needs now.

Magnetic Softeners and Iron Bacteria

Salt Water Softener Discharge Bans Continue to Grow

Today, cities and counties in more than half the States in the US have imposed bans on some types of water softener discharge. These include some of our larger States like California, Texas, Massachusetts, Michigan and many more. The bottom line for most of this legislation is that it allows regulators to ban the use of devices that discharge salt into septic or sewer lines and thus causing the water to be very difficult to recycle.

It appears obvious that the future is not bright for salt water softeners, and that they will need to transform themselves into a more environmentally responsible and environmentally friendly industry. The use of magnetic softeners does not pollute the water in any way, and is the shape of things to come.

Can Magnetic Water Softeners Help with Iron Bacteria In Your Water?

What Is Iron Bacteria?
There are many types of ion bacteria that can be found in water. They usually show up as staining in one of several colors: yellow, orange, brown, or red. You may also notice rather unpleasant odors, and the water they actually taste bad. Almost always, this problem is found in private water systems or wells.

So What About Magnetic Treatment?
Iron bacteria appears to be prevalent all across the United States, and we will receive many questions regarding it. The honest truth is that magnetic systems have great results on some bacteria’s, and no results on others.

Do you guarantee results?
We would never tell you that our magnetic water treatment system will indeed solve the iron bacteria problems in your water, we do guarantee that if you’re unhappy with the results for any reason you can easily return the units for a full refund. Since we have no way of knowing which of the many types of iron bacteria you have, the only way to know if magnetic conditioning works for you is to give it a try.

Can I use magnetic water treatment on swimming pools and hot tubs?

Of course you can, in fact pools and hot tubs are considered closed loop systems. This means that the same water continues to be cycled through the pump. This is the ultimate environment for magnetic water softeners.

You can see and feel the difference our units can make on a pool or spa within hours. Our units will help reduce algae and the amount of chemicals required to balance the pH in your pool and spa hot tub.

The magnetic flux field conditioning will reduce the surface tension of the water. That will give you similar effects to softened, treated water. This gives the water a wonderful silky feeling and at the same time reduces chemical odors.

Many customers report that the eye irritations due to the chemicals in the pool or spa are reduced.

The units will reduce future limescale build up, and can help remove the existing scale.

One word of caution, the units should be placed on the output of the water pump. However, they do need to be at least 1 foot away from the pump motor. The electromagnetic field that the pump generates can damage or weaken the magnets, and the magnets may cause damage to the pump.

Benefits of Magnetic Softening for Your Pool or Spa

  • Silky Feeling Water
  • Reduce Chemical Odors
  • Reduced Eye Irritations
  • Remove Scale Build Up
  • Reduce Chemicals Used to Balance pH

How Do I Put a Magnetic Water Softener on My Home If I Can’t Find My Pipes?

Sounds like a crazy question right? You would think it’s easy to find the pipes with a call water comes into the home either in the basement or crawl space, but it’s not always that easy.

This question comes up fairly often. There are quite a few homes, usually those with a concrete slab foundation, where it seems the pipe is tee’d off in the concrete before the line comes up into the home. So what we do in this situation?

Most of the homeowners that encounter this problem usually at the very least, have an idea where the pipes from the city or the well enter the home. You could have the pipes located if necessary, and then dig them up right outside the house. Once the pipe is exposed, you can place the two units on the pipe. You can fill the hole back up with dirt if you choose, but depending on the mineral content in your soil, it may hamper the magnetic field going through your pipes.

I usually encourage the homeowner to purchase a plastic box at the hardware store. They carry small to medium-sized plastic boxes with removable lids that are intended for sprinkler controls. Placing the box will allow easy access to your magnetic water treatment units in the future.

Magnetic Water Treatment for Well Owners – Questions Answered

Homeowners that get their water from a private well usually have additional questions and concerns that a homeowner on city or community water systems doesn’t.

The question asked most often is do I put the magnetic units at the well or at the house. The answer to that depends on how close the well is to the home. If the well is less than 50 feet from the home you may consider placing the units at the well. If the well is more than 50 feet from home I usually suggest placing the units at the home, and not treating the pipe from the well to the house. There are several reasons for this. The pipe from the well to the house is usually 1.5 inch or larger, and rarely has enough scale build up to be of concern. The effects of magnetic water treatment last approximately 48 hours after the water passes by the magnets, so you want the water to travel from the units to your drain in less than 48 hours.

Most homes with a well have a pressure tank located where the water enters the house. This is quite often an excellent location for the magnetic softeners to be placed. It really doesn’t matter a lot if the units are placed before or after the pressure tank, but if you have room my personal preference would be to put them before the pressure tank.

The reality is that there are many different variations and unique circumstances when it comes to wells. You may have questions that are not answered in this article, so don’t be afraid to ask questions about your specific configuration.
