Similar to the United State’s thirst for foreign oil, millions of Americans believe they can not get by without water softeners that consume massive amounts of salt. Although almost everyone agrees that we need to reduce our oil consumption, a growing number of Americans and many Cities are starting to get the salt monkey off their backs.

In the last few years, some Cities and Counties across the Nation have banned the use of Salt Water Softeners. This has caused the need for modern, non-polluting alternatives. Magnetic water treatment is one earth friendly way to fight hard water without harming the environment.

We say that magnetic water softeners are maintenance free, and for the most part that’s true. If your hot water tanks been under the influence of hard water for a year or longer, you should follow these easy steps to clean up the tank.

After the magnetic conditioners have been on your home for 3 to 4 weeks it’s time to see what’s going on the hot water tank. Take a short piece of garden hose around 4 feet in length and put it on the hose bib at the bottom of your hot water tank. Place the end of the hose in a bucket and open the drain valve long enough to fill the bucket about halfway. In most cases you will be left with water that is either cloudy or has small pieces of calcium in it, or both.

Follow this easy step every 3 to 4 weeks until the water is clear and has no pieces of calcium. At this point the limescale build up has been removed from the inside of your hot water tank, and you no longer have to do this. This process can take up to a year or more depending on the amount of build up in the hot water tank and the level of hardness in the water.

When water passes through an intense and highly focused magnetic field, one of the positive changes to the water is a change in the surface tension. Generally speaking, the harder your water is the harder it becomes to create soap bubbles. The increase in the surface tension of the water caused by the magnetics can greatly reduce the amount of soaps, detergents, and shampoo you use. For most people, this is the very first indication they have after they install the units on their home.

The first time you shampoo your hair a notice a large increase in shampoo suds, your first thought will likely be that you use too much shampoo. The odds are, you used about the same amount you always do and yet the treated water created far more soap bubbles than before. The magnetic water softener will have you reducing the amount of soaps, laundry detergent, and shampoo for the first few weeks as you adjust to this improved condition.
